Cake Poker a growing poker room that is being very well promoted, which results in new players signing up every day. Cake Poker’s network is growing as a whole with many new rooms joining or moving to Cake, including the recent addition of Doyle’s Room. It looks as though Cake will be a serious player in the online poker industry for years to come. Cake offers good low limit hold’em and Omaha cash games, as well frequent, well run tournaments. The initial deposit bonus is lucrative and easy to clear and the competition is fairly soft.
Initial Deposit Bonus
Cake Poker offers a 100% matching bonus up to $500 on all initial deposits. In order to release the bonus Frequent Player Points must be earned by playing in Cake Poker cash games and tournaments. In cash games 1 point is earned for every $1 that is raked up to a maximum of 3 FPP’s per hand. 7 FPP’s are earned for every $1 paid in tournament fees. Each Frequent Player Point earned is equivalent to $0.06 of the total Cake Poker bonus. The bonus is then released in increments of $10 with the pending bonus decreasing each time a payment is made. After 90 days any amount of the bonus that has not been cleared will be forfeit.
Tournaments
Cake has new multi-table tournaments starting every fifteen minutes at the latest, which means you should be able to find a tournament to your liking any time of the day. A lot of re-buy and add-on tournaments are run by Cake, and they usually end up having a ton of re-buys. These tournaments can have good value because there are people who just keep rebuying and adding to the pot without a real chance of winning the tournament. Most of the tournaments have low buy-ins but there are tournaments with buy-ins up to $50 throughout the day. Cake also has weekly $100K and monthly $250K tournaments which now count towards Card Player’s online player of the year standings.
Sit and go tournaments take a while to fill up at Cake and the majority of tournaments that run are below $25. Cake is primarily a cash game and multi-table tournaments card room, but the sit and go action is growing slowly and it shouldn’t be too long before Cake has more frequent games at all levels. Cash Games
The low limit traffic for hold’em and Omaha ring games is pretty good, with many games running with blinds $2/$4 and lower for both hold’em and Omaha. It’s also not that uncommon to see hold’em games up to $20/$40. Cake’s micro limits are also very popular with games offered as low as $0.02/$0.04.
Competition
The competition at Cake is still on the below average side even though it has improved tremendously since Cake was a completely new room. You can no longer find the 60% flop percentages that used to be seen at Cake, but there are still many tables with around 30% of the players to the flop.
Software & Graphics
The software is functional and the game play is smooth. Cake has 20 3D avatars that you can choose from. The software is constantly being updated and any problems with lag or other issues have since been fixed.
Support
You can find the answers to most of your questions in Cake’s FAQ section, but if you have a specific question that needs answering Cake’s email support is usually very quick and helpful. It would be nice to see live chat or phone support be added in the future, but until then you have to use email support for everything.
